As the duo Fiddle & Harp, Gordon and Marcie Swift (husband and wife) perform Celtic and American tunes in concert and for parties, weddings, receptions and other special occasions. Soothing harp and spirited fiddle join in a program of musical meditations, sparkling jigs and reels, romantic waltzes and more.
As both a Psychologist and Certified Therapeutic Musician, Marcie is able to intuitively create sanctuaries of sound that heal and elevate. She completed her certification program through The Music for Healing and Transition in 2000, completing her internship at both The Hartford Hospital and McClean.
The therapeutic harp has been scientifically researched as a means to decrease stress, pain, blood pressure and insomnia and to enhance the immune system, digestion, and feelings of well-being.
Marcie often provides original therapeutic harp music for retreat centers, labyrinth walks, creative arts programs, yoga centers, hospitals, schools, assisted living centers, hospice and cancer centers. Frequently she combines her therapeutic harp skills with story-telling, poetry, relaxation therapy and guided imagery.
During the pandemic restrictions, Marcie is able to provide individual and group healing work, through the internet, phone, and video.
Research on live therapeutic music consistently shows indicates stabilization of vital signs and reduction of pain, anxiety, and insomnia. This can lead to decreased time in intensive care.
